How to choose a color for your new countertops

Veining variations

Your color tastes will undoubtedly change with time, and you’ll want to repaint your kitchen with a different hue. If you match the countertops to the color scheme, they’ll look outdated when you change everything else. The answer is to have subtle splashes of color, and natural stone is a great way to do this; the unique but subtle veinings add spots of color without any bold, vivid saturation.

Pay attention to undertones

Everything, including paint, has an undertone. Please pay attention to them, or you’ll only create a jarring, confusing design. Some colors will distort rather than complement, and this is where a color wheel comes in; they’re about $20 in any hardware or art supplies store and will help you avoid a color clash.

Sample correctly

Looking at paint chips in a store might be fast, but it’s not the most accurate way. Look at them in your home, with your lighting and accessories, holding them in the proper position, as to how light usually hits it.
